"I carved this piece to be viewed 'in the round.' Depending on how you turn the piece, you get a different understanding. If you look at it from the side, where you see the man and woman's arms, it looks like they are kissing. If you turn it over and look at it from the side, where you see their faces and clasped hands, it looks like they are dancing—and it's a completely different work.
